My third gear issue...

Not sure this is a problem but my car's never done this before.

If I turn off the O/D, and then floor the car, at about 3800-4000rpm (around 115km or so) I actually start losing speed as if there's no fuel going to the engine. Then, about 2 seconds later, my car will start accelerating again. This all happens with the pedal to the ground.

My car doesn't do this with O/D on. I'm thinking some kind of vacuum issue? ACIS? ECU?

I don't ever remember my car doing this...anybody have any ideas?

So your car stops accelerating while your foot is on the gas, and without any change it starts accelerating again??

Yup...I'll floor it, it'll hit 4k or so...then it'll dip about 200 RPM, and then go up again...this all happens only with my O/D off.

hmmm....wild guess, but probably the ecu.....most likely not the acis.....

I think your car might be looking for 4th gear, and then after not finding it, THEN continues to accellerate in third or something like that....

It could be the ECU screwing around! And it could be your transmission!

But because you're saying it only happens when your O/D is off, I would think it's the ECU!!

Well, In know for sure it's not the tranny. Because if it's functioning properly with O/D than it's something else..

Yeah, I'm not even sure how to diagnose the problem, if indeed it's a prob. I guess I'll just ask Basil next time I'm at T-Lex.

My vacuum is fine elegant...that handy dandy vacuum gauge is finally paying off!
