Angry Crower camshaft mods

To put it bluntly...Crower ruined my camshafts. I sent my camshafts along with a detailed letter about the setup and my expectations and they ignored it.

They changed the base circle size down to a point that cannot be fixed with a shim.

So now I need to find new camshafts...anyone got any they can sell? I am already into this head rebuild for well over $1300, so I really don't want to drop another $600 at WebCams.

Also, does anyone know what the stock base circle diameter is?

Steve

Well, just to close the thread, I wanted to post an update.

I called Brian Crower yesterday and he isn't the best at customer service. Basically he got pissed off at me for calling about it. Then he proceeded to tell me that either I go with stock cam shafts or use lash caps (lash caps go over the ends of the valve stems to take up the difference in the base circle). I am not real happy about this, but since the lash caps were the cheap way out, I got those (another $48 + shipping...plus time).

He even bad-mouthed the process of camshaft regrinds even though he does it.

He made it clear I wasn't getting money back and no replacement parts would be funded by Crower. He kept speaking over me with "you sent the camshafts to me, right?"

It's just not worth the battle...

The way it should have worked out is he responded to my many inquiries before sending them in. Then the proper dialog would have happened and the right questions would have been asked. Because he never responded to my initial inquiries and I listened too much to people in the forums, I sent them in not knowing that the valve stems were supposed to be cut longer (0.050") to make up the difference. Then I would have ordered them from Ferrea correctly and there'd be no issue now.

Hopefully someone else learns from my mistake.
