Ok guys. Just like many of you, i get annoyed by my antenna constantly going up and down whether i am on the radio or playing a cd, it is always up. So i was reading around for different options i may have and i saw some people that had the S2000 conversion which i thought about, but then i read on Camry FAQ, posted by SBC, that he initially had a toggle switch to only put up the antenna when he wanted by the flip of a switch.
I looked around and asked around and did not get an anwser on how to do this switch. If someone could tell me the instructions and the materials needed, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Ryan
there are two wires that need to be connected from your HU to your antenna to make it go up.....
if either one is disconnected, the motor doesn't activate, and the antenna stays down....just go buy a switch, splice one of hte wires, and there you go....
simple as pie....- have fun

You have a power antenna wire coming out of your deck, whether it's a factory deck or a an aftermarket. Just splice ubto the power antenna wire, and put the switch between both ends of the wire...
Good luck

yeah....but what I said makes a lot more sense if a person has actually installed their head unit themselves....
I remember when I was installing mine...everything was easy until I got to the antenna part....then it took me almost 2 hours to figure out how to make it go up, cuz I never thought that it would take 2 wires together.....
but....best experience ever tho...learnt a lot....
oh, and if anybody is wondering, I think this only applies to gen3 cams, cuz I've got a 94....don't know about the others....
EDIT: well, oops....looking at the thing that xenon posted, I guess it applies to all toyotas....

My power antenna (before the motor died) used to go up with the radio, but go down as soon as i put in a tape (dad didn't spring for the CD player back in the day). I thought that all gen3's did that.....

hehe, yeah that took me a while too, played aroudn trying to get my dash and tail lights to work too, kept blowing the fuse, so i put a 2meg resistor on there
works now, as soon as it gets a bit warmer i'll connect my useless switch to the remote wires

they do....but not with aftermarket decks tho.....they just make the antenna go up once the unit is on- doesn't matter if you're actually listening to the radio, or cd's or what not

actually my deck doesn't supply power to the antenna until i'm actually in radio mode. when i go to CD or Aux mode it goes back down. i think i might put a switch on there too cuz this cold weather's not agreeing with the antenna at all.
