Do all springs settle?

I'm looking to get some aftermarket springs for my car and was thinking of getting the H&R OE sports (my car is only a camry, so i don't want anything crazy) and the advertised drop is 1 inch. Is that height the initial drop height, or will they settle to a lower height? I'm completely new to the scene and although I have a decent mechanical background, I'm a little new at the details. I've read that Intrax springs have some crazy differences from advertised drop height to actual drop height (by like 1.5" sometimes???). Any one have experience with H&R? Any comments and suggestions (and even best buy prices in Toronto) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

dunno about H&R, but i have some Eibachs, and they settled out a little after i put them on. the advertised drop was about 1.5" all around, and thats pretty close to what i got, perhaps a hair more. when you first put them on, they will not be at the final height. typically you should put them on, wait about a week for them to settle, and then get an alignment.

just my $0.02

I think the answer would be yes! Considering they manufacture the spring without applying constant pressure on it, I would think any spring would settle!

But do 'higher quality' springs settle less than 'lower quality' ones?

Its the process used to wind the springs that dictates how much they'll settle, cold wound springs will settle less than others.
