It's in some early-80's Celicas too.

Ok ,iI got that bolt out,it was a 6 mm.
That crank bolt ,now that was a tight mother!
I split two chrome 19 mm sockets, and stripped a socket wrench, too bad it wasn't a craftsman. So I used a compact wrench socket on a one piece long handled 1/2 inch drive wrench.
Now i need to remove the timing cover and replace the timing chain.
I think the chain wore into a water jacket in the timing cover.
My engine kept overheating ,yet there was no sign of leaks, and my rad was fine,my thermostat was fine,my now rebuilt head turned out fine.
The machine shop I took it to,got a notice a while back, saying how some engines have similar symptoms, and the heads kept checking out fine.So tomorrow,I'll probably find something in the cover.I already see gauges fron the chain,or chain before that,I put this engine in used.Don't know it's history.
