2nd Generation 3rd gen 3sgte

i was told that the 3rd gen has 13psi stock boost, then 18 psi with fuel cut. well mine is running 8psi. i was told that my t-vsv is holding me back. do 3rd gens had t-vsv. turbo-vacum switch valve?

Yes, there is two different boost levels that a stock 3rd gen 3s-gte runs at. If you are only getting 8lbs, it may just be because the ECU isn't happy... when conditions are right, it will boost up around 13lbs. (via the T-VSV, like you said)

2nd Generation

what about octane levels. someone told me that since the fuel in japan are highr the boost if at 13. here we have 91. so the ecu is holding me back on 8psi. i just ordered 109 octane to try to see if that works.

The octane of gas is rated somewhat differently in Japan than in the US. Their top octane level (98 or 100 or whatever) is approximately equivalent to 94-95 octane in the states. Many people have been successful running up to 17psi on stock 3rd gen motors with gas as low as 91 octane (california).

Gas is most likely not something that is holding you back. Its probably some other sensor...

as far as i remember there is no Tvsv or tvis crap on the JDM mr2 and def not on the third gen . 13 spi sound right. check all your hoses, timing, exhaust for restrictions...and check to see if your turbo is spinning freely, check knock sensor.
