Electrical problems

Hello all:

I have a 2002 Toyota Celica GTS.

Here is my problems, or should I say problems.

My DRL, fuel guage, auto door locks (or anything to do with the door, including the dome light, door open warning light, key in ignition warning, etc....) and rear hatch lock doesn't work.

Here is what happened. I got into a rear fender bender. Not bad. Car hit my left rear side. A month after the car was repaired, I started the car and noticed that the gas guage wasn't working. I kinda freaked out because at that time, people were stealing gas from cars. I thought I was a victim. But, I wasn't, my gas tank was full.

I noticed that other things (mentioned above) weren't working.

I checked all the fuses (all good). I checked the connections (all good). I kinda figured that the problems were connected to the B7 and/or B6 wiring (from the manual). But, I cannot figure out what the hell is wrong.

Any ideas? Do you think it could be the ECU? Or something related to the accident (wiring or some electrical component in the rear where the accident happen)? Grounding problems? something?

My last resort is to take it to the stealership to figure out the problem.

Thanks ahead for any advice.

If you have the service manual wiring diagram, run down what problems are on the same fuse circuit and which are separate. Some systems are on a common circuit. See if these circuits run through a common plug or have a common ground. As you are state, perhaps there is a common plug that has been disconnected. As this car was repaired on the left side, perhaps this is where the problem is.

Pick one problem item first (the easiest to get to) and then use a voltmeter to run down the problem. If the Dome light does not work, find out if it works when another door is open. See what else is on the Dome light circuit and if this works. This way you will be able to narrow down the problem.

If the gas gauge does not work, do the other gages such as temperature work? If so, the wires to the fuel tank sensor could be disconnected, or it could be a bad ground.

If the fuses are OK, is power getting to the actual device. If so, is the device ground OK.

The ECU does not control any of the trouble items you listed.
