oil in gas tank?

me and my friend were talking about his beater, he said that he puts in 1 litre of oil to a full gas tank every few fillups, says that it lubricates from the otherside, kinda like a 2 stroke engine

now, this dosen't seem like that bad an idea, but i'd be worried that my fuel filter, and my injectors will get all clogged up, anyone got an opinion on this?

I dont' know much about maintenance and tuning, but this sounds ridiculous. Oil isn't designed to handle the temperatures of the combustion chamber, it'll just burn, and burning of oil is a sign of an engine about to fall apart! lots of black smoke etc.... I can't imagine how this could do anything but contaminate your catalytic converter and clog your fuel injectors. Burned oil is NOT clean, lots of residue so u'll just be filling the engine with crud.

please correct me if I'm wrong tho. Just doesn't make sense to me.

What make is his car? I remember my auto shop teacher telling us that a certain brand of cars had you add some oil for every so much gas. I think it was Saab?
