Thanks for the reply,

But I am a little dissapointed though, 65,000+ members and the best I can get is a guess.

No one knows the weight of a gts or other similar ae86 corolla?

So there isnt 600 lbs to loose?

Removing the interior, bumpers, light weight drivers seat, fibreglass hoods, fenders, replace the glass, pull any AC, PS, sound deadening matls etc.

How close to 1600 lbs if not?

Typically people say they weigh around 2300 lbs. Thats a general weight though so when you take things like power steering/windows/locks out you will loose a little

I would say on the US models the bumper rebar would be a good way to lose weight, you could use the JDM bumpers which weigh less but aren't cheap. Seat are another heavy item, not so much your rear ones as they are mostly foam. Gts seats on the ae86 and ae92 aren't very light because of the adjustments they have, buckets will save you a bit there also.

600 lbs though is ALOT. But remember not to make it to light or to offset the balance to much as it isn't a race car. Your looking at changing panels to carbon fiber and fiberglass, replacing the glass with plastic make the doors part of the body so you can remove things like handles and the mechanism inside the door. Even then it may not be enough to get it to 1600.

**edit**
another thing, avoid a sunroof if you haven't bought the car yet, as even if you remove it the undeside of the roof has a pocket to hold the panel for it to roll back which will add a decent weight (I figure it's obvious but won't hurt to say it)

My race only AE86 weighs 1715lbs,it's pretty hard to get to that weight.Car is currently competely stripped inside with only a drivers seat,4 gallon fuel cell and a 6 point cage. The doors are kevlar as is the rear hatch and a 1pc lift off front end,I built all the moulds and parts myself. The rear quarters and roof are next, should drop a few pounds as I will cut all metal off from the top of the windsheild down to the bottom of the rear glass.
All bumpers and supports are removed as well,no ps etc etc either.I have a rather heavy engine being that I've supercharged a 20v.With the roof/rear quarters removed and replaced with the kevlar pieces and going back to an NA engine combo I would very easily be in the low 1600lb range.
If you want one this light be prepared to spend lots of cash,do lots of work and never ever be street legal again.
