Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I wasn't sure if I should post it here or not. Here's my question:
Engine and car: 1990 Toyota Camry 4-cyl 3SFE engine 2.0L
Parts used: Borg Warner Sure Spark wire and cap set.
I have done other repairs on my cars before but this is my first Toyota and first time replacing a ditributor cap and wires.
I replaced my distributor cap, wires and spark plugs this weekend. I made a big no-no and did not note the order of the wires on the old distributor cap. *oops*, only because I had assumed that the numbers on the connectors of the new distributor cap would correspond with the numbers of the cylinder it should lead to, am I right?
For example I just connected the number #1 on the Distributor cap to the #1 cylinder. Then #2 on the cap to the #2 cylinder, etc. It started up just fine. However....
When I looked at this diagram of firing order I panicked and thought I should follow this instead:

but then it wouldn't start. So I wired back by number on cap to number of cylinder again and it started right up. Should I be worried about this or did I do it right by corresponding the numbers on cap to the number of the cylinder?
Thanks in advance,
Elka
