heat treatment/rust proofing

does anyone know a place or a method of heat treating and rust proofing a header? i can get some pretty kick ass custom exhaust manifold for a reasonable price...the problem is that it doesnt come with any sort of coating..not ceramic no nothing....so it'll die on my pretty fast. any ideas of how to prolong the life of it? if it cant be done i wont even bother investing in something like this...

yea we'll drop by cantire for sure jus for amusement

the disc caliper paint they have can sustain 500F....but the manifold will heat up to 1200F or more. extra coat won't work either way... gotta get it done properly.....

the engine block paint can sustain up to 880F.....so we'll just drop by cantire anyways....

Yeah it does. It takes alot of abuse from just sitting outside after cooking up the neighbourhood dog

On the real though, I sprayed my muffler with BBQ paint and it's still going strong. You could also use high temp enamal that itchi suggested. I used this stuff on my brake rotors and it rusted after only one winter

Don't bother going to CrappyTire ! I used their hi-temp enamel paint on my manifold and now looks gold ( originally silver ) and soon enough I think it's gonna look brown again !! Maybe that BBQ could work , when the gold turns brown I think I'll give it a try !
