Sleepy Eye Pop-up Headlights

I got a 91 Celica and it is currently in the shop getting painted. I just just a curious question. I noticed it on some ST-185 (90-93)Celicas on the Japanese sites and also on some 240's that you can possibly have your pop-up headlights open halfway instead of opening up all the way looking like a frog eg. the older "miatas". Is there a special switch related to that mod that you need to buy or do you need to adjust the stock headlight motors in order to do this. I'm not sure if I was the only one thinking about this but hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks guyz...

I think it would require a lot of modification, you need to change your motors to stop at a less rotation than your Toyota ones, you have adjust the headlight angle and change the headlight because it's not all going to shine through...

Unless your question is just to have the headlight sitting at half point without them lighting! If you don't need a conversion, than you can open up your flips half way manually by turnning the red dial according the direction on its cap!

But I'm not sure if anyone has done it electrically so they can control where the motor stops, it doesn't seem to be functional?!

Theres some kinda box that you wire up.

My buddie was thinking about it for his MKIII Supra but, never got around to it.

I'll ask him about the box and see what I can find out.

isn't there a way that u can manually adjust the headlights, as long as you take out the fuse?

like say, ur headlight motor's busted, there's a way to screw something to get ur headlights to roll up, but instead, just screw it halfway or something...

just a thought, after reading my manual.

There's the red knobs on top of your motor which allow you to put your headlights up or down (They are dials which are a part of the motor).

But I can't see what you mean by a three position switch?

Something like a switch which taps into the OEM motor wires, and when you turn the switch off you cut the power to the motor and it stops at the position it's at! But you won't have the desired height every time!! Plus you'll have to make sure your lights operate at the exact same speed...
