I know the Toyota EPC can be downloaded, but does anyone know if the factory manual can be downloaded as well or do I have to purchase it from a Toyota dealer? I know that Haynes and Chilton have manuals on my car (96 camry) but I'd rather have the factory manual for when I start taking bits of my car apart.
Also, if the manual is downloadable, is there a computerized version like the EPC or is it hardcopy only?
I'm going to try to work on the HVAC piping to get rid of that mildew smell when you first turn on the A/C so it will probably involve removing the dashboard which is why I want the manual. Any ideas?
Those factory manuals are way more comprehensive than the Haynes manuals...but for the regular DIY guy, the Haynes should be enough. It has enough electrical schematics for the average joe.
For instance, the factory manual goes into detail on how to reset your airbag light...whereas the Haynes doesn't even mention stuff like that.
actually, I don't think that's TOO in depth... If i'm gonna learn about my car the hands on way, I'd rather it have way more info than what I need.....
Can I just go into any Toyota dealer and order their manual? Or do I need special hookups?
but ive still yet to find a factory service manual that wasnt $300+
I do however get really good info from the Mitchell On-Demand mechanics software. My uncle has that software in his garage and so does my local mechanic, and they are both cool with me doing research on it and printing out schematics and info.
Yea...the factory service info page is pretty good, but hard to find specifics....
Also, could someone burn me a copy of the EPC? I'll provide a couple of CDs for you, and I'm in Toronto, so I can always drop off and pick up the discs. All I need is someone to burn for me if they don't feel comfortable lending them out for me to copy myself.
You can check the local library too... I was shocked when I found out that the local library had mitchell on-demand installed (can't estimate, though).
