what is the best size?

I am thinking of purchasing a set of 15" wheel~
B cox I think my 13" are too small~!
But all the sudden, I want to know what size is the best~ I am looking for more performance than to show~ I like to GO, but no SHOW~ hehehe

my stock size is 13" 4X100 bolt pattern
tire size is 185/70R13

please discuss this with me~

I think 17" is the performance standard but for your car maybe something smaller?

I think that the most you want to go is 16", although I would personally go for 15".

Go bigger, you get more cornering strengths, but more mass and rotational inertia. If you really are looking for an all go, no show look, 15" is probably the way to go. You would probably end up with something about 205/50R15 (i didn't do a proper OD calculation) which will give you getter grip from the wider tires, but not so much wider that it bogs you down in straight line performance.

You also have to remember that a wider tire affects straight line stability as well. The wider the tire, the more they will try to follow the ruts in the road.

that's what I think too
I personally think 15" will best fit my car
since my horsepower are low~ even though I may swap my engine, but who knows

15" is the best for now~

thx

thx boro

I am currently using yokohama tire too
but is 185/70R13

just wondering from what you mean stay with 13"
and change to 185/60R13
can you explain a little more about the acceleration and handling part, don't really understand

how about 14"?
any comment?

a smaller rim will give better acceleration as its is smaller and therefore less weight, so from a start the engine needs less force. however, with a small rim, your top speed will be limited, something to do with the smaller circumference of the wheel. so for higher top end go with a bigger rim, also they will give you better cornering.

Ok, so I don't think 13" will fit for me. I often go to Toronto or waterloo, may be twice a month. I don't want to lose the top end and the higher speed.

What if I use 14" with 195/60R14? or 15" with 195/50R15?

If I have to choose between one of them?
which one should I go for?

going to 185/60R13 means that ur entire wheel is going to be smaller....this is the cheap man's way of changing the final ratio.
ur acceleration will be better because it's easier for the engine to spin the wheels, the wheels spin at a faster rate when going the same speed(ie: if 185/70R13 spins 100 rps when going 60, then 185/60R13 will spin 130rps when going 60).

this means that to go the same speed, ur rpm's will be higher....MEANING that u are more into the higher rev range and be able to use the hp that is made up there.

believe me there is a big diff in accel when u go to a smaller overall size....and if performance is all u want, this is where it's at. u can get some very very nice rubber in 185/60R13 so..it's all good

ok very nice explanation~!

So I am looking for overall smaller size than what I have right now~

I believe if I am able to get 15" 195/50R 15 , I will get better performance too right?

try 195/45R15

195/50R15 would be the same as 185/60R14 which is the same as 185/65R13...

if u got 185/70R13 right now then 195/50R15 would be a slight improvement, but 45 profile would be even better
