4age makes mad powaaa

and so we went to the dyno today and we did a comparison of the smallport 4age and the bigport 4age.....

the comparison is as follows:

big port 4age...mods: CAI, 2.25 bent pipe cat back
running on 91 octane and 10w30 synthetic <---minesh's car

small port 4age...mods: K&N filter, 2.25 mandrel bent cat back
10w30 dino oil <--- who else can be that boro? it's me obviously

results:

big port: 97.2 peak hp 91 peak tq

small port: 96.8 peak hp 87 peak tq

i'll get into the specific details of the rpms and such later...gotta double check the graph....left it in my car

Odd...

Boro's car (highcomp) is rated at 130hp, while RedruM's car (lowcomp) is rated at 112hp. Mods are similar and I think mileage is similar too.

Odd...

Compression test anyone?

It's Turbo time!!! hehehe...

hmm... it's weird.. why would a small port dyno at less HP than the big port?? shaun.. something is wrong with your car.. I know you keep complaining about the car being sluggish and shit.. maybe you should look into it.

ae92 lowcomps are 115hp.

let's not forget that he was running synthetic oil, i think that makes a huuuuge difference...and the cai too.

other than that, i still dont see why there is such a big diff. when i was racing him in the rain i pulled bus lengths on him...but he keeps saying he had traction problems, so we will have to try again in the dry

my compression is fine, and redrum has goot compression.... soooooo i dont know. it's ok tho...this 16v is going to be swapped

oh yea i forgot to mention....my timing belt is on it's last legs, gotta be changed...and i have a headgasket that's going....my car spits out white/grey smoke. redrum just replaced his timing belt

guy, let me tell u that it is NOT sluggish....i keep saying it, and i still think it.....but i've proven to myself that it is not...the proof lies in the time when i beat my bro's 2003 sir when we raced at the lights....did it 2x too!! both times i pulled on him...by the top of 2nd gear i had a car length and could cut into his lane....and yes, we were both really racing....sooooooooooo go figure man.

BoroEF- I'm with REN69, It seems odd to lose 30+hp through transmission.

I've seen a 1ZZfe (rated at 125 FlyWheelHP) Put down just over 110 HP to the wheels (5-speed)... But your rated at 130 and putting down 96? Or was that 130 a misqote?

Chris

P.S. sorry I got to much powah for yah 2 digits foo!

remind some of you guys that these engine has over 200k km on it already..... and comparing them with the newer 1ZZ-FE is not gonna proove alot....

im pretty sure, a brand new/rebuilt 4age will get you the 3 digit number.

Not trying to prove anything, just curious I don't see why an old engine would make less HP as long as it is in good running condition, I mean If the compression is low, I could see then but if it works good, I don't see why It would dyno lower.
Especially since I'm assuming both cars are just as old and the one with significantly lower stock HP made more on the Dyno. I don't think the CAI accounts for that...

I am speaking from pure ignorance here of course so tell me how I am wrong if this is the case.
