I want a cooler engine.

not talking about ice or bling factor, but about the cooling system.

with my stock rad, and standard 60/40 split of rad fluid, my older, corolla [4AF] tends to get pretty warm..

now i was curious if there was any kinda additive that i could pour into the rest of the rad fluid stock to help cool that sucker down.

thanks

could get a thermostat that's set a bit lower, could get another fan, another rad, could make sure your fluid is good and new

but what you could to to increase airflow into the engine bay, is to take off your hood, and put a couple of washers between the hood and the bracket, lifting up the rear of the hood, lets air exit better, even creates a suction, lots of sports cars have what look like reversed ram air scoops, this is their function

thermostat is AOK, just had that checked.

i may try and get one that sets the fan in earlier, but i also dont want to kill the fan...

and yah, that idea for the reverse suction sounds like a good idea

What about your rad, are all the cells safe in there? Is it missing a lot of cells!, check the pressure on the big tube runnung from the top of your rad to you engine and see if it's stiff or sqeezable!

well after the head gasket blew in my car, my mechanic assured that its still driveable.

but yeah, all the tubes are in good shape.......no cracks, leaks or stretching.

Redline Oil sells some stuff called Redline WaterWetter that drops the temps of your coolant by 15 or so degrees. It works and it costs around $15.

It only makes sense to do a flush/fill before you add it. But since you had your thermostat done recently it'll probably be cool.

Flushing the rad is very simple, but you should do a proper flush at a mechanic or a certified place, they use a mechine to circulate a cleaning fluid through your system and it's clean all the pipes and parts associated with the cooling system..

That usually costs about $60
