H & R with Stock Struts

I realize aftermarket suspension has been thoroughly discussed on TN, but I"ve got a question I couldn't find an answer for. My Car is a 94 Camry with the 4-cylinder and all-stock suspension.

I'm considering lowering my car using either Eibach or H & R springs, and want to know if my stock struts can handle the drop. Most likey it won't, at least not for long. I don't know if I have sealed or non-sealed struts, so I don't know if I can get by with a cheaper strut upgrade. Regardless, if necessary, I'll get KYB GR-2 struts... eventually, when I get enough money. Also, how difficult is the installation? Judging by the Haynes manual, it won't be too hard, but will require a weekend's worth of work, at least for me.

You are right, the stock struts will do, but how long they last is unpredictable.

Youre better off doing the labor all at one, because its literally the same job to replace the springs as it is to replace the struts. Do whatever your budget can afford to do is all I can say, because in the end, thats pretty much what makes the decision.

I changed my struts and springs myself and it's a one day job. Usual tools are all you need especially a torque wrench. You also might need a Johnson bar since some of the nuts are mighty tight. An extra hand is very much a necessity.

Just be very careful with the front strut setup as there is a particular way in which the bearing sits on the strut mount.
