Y-pipe question

Do the pipes have to be the same length??? like on headers???

what would happen if they were not the same lengths leading into the joint???

Nothing. They dont have to be equal length. No performance difference. Having one shorter runner and one longer is better than having two long runners... capice?

Maxima owners convert there stock Y-pipes to sort of F-pipes with the Budget Exhaust aftermarket pipe they have. Just look:

later.

Just as long as you don't run open pipes downstream of the header there is no problem.

whoa those are pretty nice....

yeah cause to make a y pipe like our camrys the bends are too tight and complex welds...

if this F-pipe doesnt affect the perfomance than crush bends should be good enough right?

Thats nonsense. You can buy pre-bent mandrel pipes and just a shop to weld it together. Hell, Budget exhaust offers their Maxima y-pipes as a "weld-your-own" kit if you wanna save money. Thats all it is. There is no excuse for crush bent pipes, unless you like being ghetto-fabulous.

never dyno'd with it... cause I had an exhaust leak while it was on, and I still had a Check engine light at the time.
