street/track tires

what tires would u pick for combined street/track use and why?

toyo t1s
falken azenis
dunlop fm901
yokohama es100
yokohama a520

all the above mentioned tires are very high performance for street use but as for track, i dont have a clue...it's a different story there.

anyone got experience with these?

or should i just stick to my a032r and get a set every year

At least from reviews that I read, ES100 is about the same price as Kumhos 712, but performs better overall.

But where can you find those tires tho???

And didn't you guys hear FM901s have soft sidewall?

Not available in Canada, so I capitalized off the weak US dollar and got my set from tirerack for $350 US shipped (which was $495 CAN that day), which is still cheaper than the other alternative (1010tires.com) which is shipped from BC, but much more pricier. I know im gonna get slapped with the mandatory $40 UPS brokerage charge, and whatever customs charges, which is basically my buffer. But if I dont break $600 Ill be happy. Same price for decent all-seasons, so thats how Im justifying it.

Actually I just called Wheels Direct and found out that they carry it.

Pretty pricey tho, for $2xx more I could get T1-S instead, but I guess T1-S don't come in the size you wanted.

Keep us posted once u get them installed.

my friend's car has those tires and i rode in his car on track day...they seemed to hold up very good, i was impressed. i had low expectations for that tire...

oh and if ur comparing the es100 to the 712, then es100 cant be that good. cyril was ranting about how the es100 is > the a520 on CSI. i was mighty impressed by the a520 after having ridden in cyril's car on track day.

shaun

read what dickson wrote again

he said the ES100 is similar to price as the kumho

just cuz the price is similar, doens't always mean that they perform the same

no way yokohama tires could perform the same as kumhos...if the A520s are BETTER than the 712s to begin with..what makes you think the ES100 will be EQUAL??/ when the ES100 is supposed to be an improvement over the 520s

yup i'm aware, i was just pointing out how they should not be compared to the 712...bleh, i didnt realise he was merely comparing the cost. anyhow, u said 205. u got 15s??
i thought u were running 14s...i'm confused

i might run 205/50R15 but wow, that'll make my car slow

I have 195s on my 14X5.5. They stick out a little bit, but I have not had problems I just keep the pressure up at 35psi(warm) or so and that keeps them from bulging out...

^nothing against nitto but they always appeared to be a rice brand of tires to me....they came out of no where and are into drag...they even designed a tire with a kool tread pattern...just for show. it's sort of a brand that i'd like to stay away from....i dont drag and nor do i care about shows.

i'm interested to hear some reviews on t1s or es100 or so...but i think i've got my eyes set on some falken azenis 205/50R15
