seeking technical input

so i compression tested my 4ag today thanks to shane...

results are as follows:
cyl1:215ish
cyl2:220ish
cyl3:100ish
cyl4:195ish

conclusion: obviously, cyl 3 is dead. but why is it losing that 100 psi and where is it going? to test if it was the rings, we put some oil in there and did the compression test again and it yeilded back similar numbers(reached 105psi).

so where could the compression be going? head gasket, valve seals?????? also...my oil is going somewhere. obviously, my bottom end is in tip top condition. i might just rebuild my head...but i'd like to know the culprit to this problem...

Im guessing headgasket since even cylinder #4 isnt showing full compression. I figure that there is a leak in the headgasket around the #3 and #4 cylinder. There is a chance however that you might have two bad piston rings or whatever...

cant have bad rings....cos i put oil down cylinder 3 and did the test again...if the numbers rise then it means the rings...if they dont it means that rings are fine...my rings are good

i guess this will save me the hassle of an engine swap

told you ....the head gasket
leaky engine oil, white smoke outta exhaust, low compression.

but than again, it could be improper valve seating, and either way, you hafto take off the head off the block to check it anyways

soooooo when you starting?

if everything itchy's saying is true, then its your head gasket, also (with a cold engine) open up the rad cap and look for bubbles (unless your thermostat is righ there)

its not that bad a job, plus you can clean off all the shit in your valves

shane and i were thinking headgasket as well...but losing 100psi at just the headgasket? really?

that sounds pretty crazy to me

in any case i will rebuild the head, send it in for 3 angle valve job...and if i find some decently priced cams, i'll get a set of those too...and hello 3 digit whp territory
