Electric A/C

Alrighty, I've been going on a bit of a crazy idea trip for the past few weeks, so dont' flame me if this idea is completely whack. Who knows, maybe it'll inspire someone..hahaha! Anyhow, so since I have no clue about electric motors, I'm pretty sure that this idea will be nixxed real quick, but here goes nothing.

Would it be possible to run the A/C compressor with an electric motor instead of using the accessory belt? Maybe like piggyback an electric motor to the compressor unit and use either gears or a belt to connect the output shaft of the electric motor to the drive shaft of the compressor?

The only problems I can see right now is 1) that getting an electric motor of sufficient power would make the whole thing too heavy and cancel out any HP gains made from taking the A/C out of the accessory belt loop, 2) an electric motor of sufficient strength would be too large to mount by the engine, and 3) can a car's electrical system even handle the drain that would be needed to drive the electric motor?

I've been going on a little

it would be possible, although i imagine you'd need a pretty strong (torque) motor, but something like a starter motor would work, those things will run pretty much forever, the only problem is that the draw on the battery is huge, forcing your alternator to make more electricity, increasing the amount of stolen hp

so it wouldn't give you any extra power,

Think about it this way bro... Major corporations that manufactuer cars etc... would have thought of something this ingenious long ago if it was feasable... but its not... the draw would be massive... you would def. lose hp (your HP would not even brake "even" (to what it would be prior to trying this "conversion")) good idea... initally at least...

C ya!
