Is it possible that a 195/60-14 tire could have a different diameter than another 195/60-14? I replaced a set of BFG with Bridgestones and am failry certain than the overall diameter is smaller. How can this be? The increased gap in the wheel well is NG. Thanks.

should we assume that both tires are brand new?

can't be, the sidewall should be 60% of 195mm, so 117, x2 so 234mm + 14inch rim (350mm)

= 584mm

maybe your old tires were over inflated, or your new ones are under inflated..

My old tires besides appearing larger used to rub the fender liner when they were at least 1/2 worn, during hard turns. These brand new tires do not rub at all, or even appear to come close. I am really happy with the performance of these tires but the size is bugging me.

I would compare them side by side but I bought them from Costco so they kept the old tires.

tire sizes, in my experince, are not absolutes. i had a hoosier 225/50/16 that more in common with a 205/55/16. even various 225/50/16 from different manufacturers do not match up to each other exactly.

it is just like buying a large shirt at k-mart, but finding a medium and sears thgat looks to be the same size.
