Powdercoating vs. Painting

So I've got to go get my wheels either powdercoated or painted. They are currently white which, well, looks hideous on my champagne coloured car. From what research I've done, aside from cost, it seems like powdercoating is the way to go when I paint my wheels. Does anyone have an opinion on this? Pros and cons of powdercoating vs painting. Will the heat from the brakes affect the finish? What price should I expect to pay for an above average job? I'm gonna do either a dark silver gunmetal colour or a dark bronze colour.

Definetly powder-coating.. Painting will not last and also will not look good. I have seen painted rims and they don't look good as well, plus if you are going to paint you have to use heat resistant paint like the one used on Manifolts because the rims tend to get hot after long driving periods.

Powder coat, and if you still don't know where to go, CarCones is the answer.. I would expect to pay $100 a rim maybe?

u say painting is cheaper then powerdercoating? that doesnt sound right, my dad owns a body shop and he would get into powerdercoating but this is to small of a town not enough business because he can pay to have somebody powder coat stuff cheaper then he can do it for just material cost

Well, the quote I got from Carcone to paint a rim was $100, so I'd expect it to go up from there. I was talking to my friend and he said that powder coating would probably cost $150-200 a wheel, and if i really wanted the best coating, to get it anodized, but that's like 3 bills a wheel because of the preparation.

powdercoated. anodized does look pretty bad ass but like you said you will pay out the ass for a good finish.

They had a deal for a while, if you wanted to powder-coat in black or white it would be $100...

Carcones did wonders on my friend's EK Sir rims, they look amazing after being powder-coated and machined!

I know CarCones are a bit expensive but they really make it worth the money.

They pick and drop off the wheels. you don't have to take the rubber off, they do it for you. And they reeally do an awsome job..

But make sure you ask TopKote Design Finishes if they charge extra for any services...
