Yoko A032 and Toyo RA1

after joining some lapping days.. i found myself need a set of track-only racing tires.. i don't feel like using my daily driven summer tires on the track.. coz i lose much tread after last monday..

i'm looking to get a set of Yokohama A032.. warped on steelies..
anyone know the approx. price for a set of 205/50/R15??

and also pls tell me the price for ToyoRA1 if u know..

thanks..

unless you plan on lapping in the rain a LOT go with RA1s

why not run a set of 14" R compounds, but 15s?
cheaper too.

arrr... ya 14' is good for me too..
i found 2 sizes for my car for the A032..
195/60/14
205/50/15
both sounds good to me.. jsut depends on the price difference..

but isn't 205/50 wider and got a lower profile?
or it doesn't really matter either 50 or 60series on a track??
coz. i see some of you guys run 60 series tires..

and i don't think i'll run the R compounds if the day is wet.. since my T1-S are friggin good on wet surface.. u saw that on the 20/7 trackday, Cyril did u??

i run 185/60R14 a032r on the track and they are GREAT.

u can get a set installed for around +-600 in that size....

ra1 are supposed to be even better in the dry...but if ur going to see rain, go with 032r...i drove them when they still had tread left in the rain...and it was like there was no rain

no, wheels direct either doesnt deal them or wont have them for a good price.
go to automotive import market...they specialize yokes...

ask for phil...he's the man to deal with.

boro: its not ture. wheels direct does deal with YOKOHAMA tyres. its just that not alot of pepo ask for them. we are a yoko direct dealer.

as for the a032 they good in the dry and pretty responsive in the wet, but too short of a lifespan. the RA-1's however, will have options for you. its starts off at 8/32 of an inch. at full tread the tyres are designed for wet track use (lots of channels). shave it down to 2/32 and heat cycle it properly and you got some SICK slicks !!

205/50/15 or 195/60/14 i think ra-1 got. i gotta chk on the avalibitiy and price. if you got list price in CAD, then you get 20% list if your a R-GROUP member. just sign up at the toyo website. i think its toyo.ca dunno tho ! your first pair you pay at full retail price. the second pair you get i think a 25% off or 30%..they changing the rules now so i dunno which one it is. but you get a free toyo jacket and 6 HATS !!count em !! SIX !!!!

A032 i used them on the street, but not onthe track. VERY sticky on a hot day ! but without bringin the tyres up to temp, they dont feel any diff from the AVS sports or ES100. tough sidewall tho !!really stiff !!

but if you wanna save some $$$ look into the KUMHO ecsta V70 or victoracer v700's. i sell ALOT to the subaru guys. they love em off cause of the price ! they burn out like the a032 but bout half the price ! dont rule anything out !

Victoracers runs a smaller slip angle than RA1s...

so it's a less forgiving tire.

micheal,

195/60/14 non existant for either RA1 or A032

185/60/14 for a032 -> 180$cad (tax in)
205/55/15 for ra-1 -> 222$ (take off 20%, then plus tax)

hope that helps

If you're looking for a set of track-only tires, I have got the set for you!
Silverstone S575 Tarmac rallye tyres
I've got a barely used set that I'm trying to sell. They have only been used for 1 lapping day. And it wasn't even a full day because I spent half of it parked with engine trouble.
You can get some info for them from this site: http://www.motorsport-dist.com
What I can tell you about them is that they are incredible! Far better than any R-compound you can buy. They are pretty heat sensitive, they need to be nice and warm before they really stick well. But it only takes about 1 lap to get them up to the right temperature. Also, because they are designed for rallying, the progression from grip to slip is very gradual, which makes them VERY predictable, and VERY easy to drive. You can always feel exactly how much grip you have, which is alot.
They are currently mounted on a set of American Racing 4x100 rims, which will fit your Corolla.
Reply here, or email me: wedge1@rogers.com if interested or have any other questions.

those UTQG numbers are not standardized. the companys (in this case yoko and toyo) will release their own numbers on the uniform tire quality grad (UTQG) and their own temp rating and traction rating. the companies submit their ownnumbers to the DOT. even tho yoko got 60 and toyo got 50 does not mean they have the same wear characterisitcs.
