Ceramic Painting engine parts...

I read one of the DIY intake things, and it talked about painting the tubing with ceramic based paint. I was wondering if it was good to paint other things with this paint in the engine compartment to make it cooler in there, or to deflect some of the heat off of other parts that need cold air. I bought the dupli-color high heat ceramic paint, good up to 1200 degrees to paint this ram intake I ordered from ebay. Hoping maybe it will make it not be as hot. I'm not ready to make the cai yet, I havnt really messed around with any mechanical part of the car. Sounds fun to work on later though after messing around with this one.

Yes, go ahead and spray the ram intake with the ceramic paint. I think I remember reading a post or 2 around here somewhere where a few other people did the same thing, and they said it in fact did help, so give it a try!

i used hight temp paint on my CAI piping, and touching it after driving, its not nearly as hot as the intake plenum. don't think it would help much for my turbine housing or down pipe

I painted my 3S-GTE turbo manifold with 1200 degree engine paint. Big mistake. It burned and flaked off. Looked like fish scales.

If you want to do something to the turbine housing or downpipe I would have it ceramic coated.
