can i use S-AFC?

i'm turboing my camry (3s-fe), and as it is AFM'd i need something that will up the fuel along with the more air being forced in. if possible i would like to use the apexi product but i'm not sure if it would be suitable. any thoughts?

I can see some potential problems with using a S-AFC on a boosted 3S-FE.

The ecu doesn't know that its seeing boost so for all its concerned your engine is still n/a.

Another thing is that a 3S-FE uses a AFM (air flow meter). The ecu uses this to calculate the airflow and the amount of fuel to add. The problem is that the AFM cannot see boost, so it can't compensate for the extra air from the turbo and add fuel.

Your best bet is to upgrade the fuel pump and use a fmu / boost dependent fpr or a aic (additional injector controller) with extra injectors mounted on the intake pipe before the throttle body.

you can still use a SAFC with an AFM metered car - it shouldnt, however, be your only course for air/fuel management.

It depends.
The AFM don't need to see boost. As long as the air flow doesn't go over its measuring limit, the ECU will pump more fuel until it goes 100% on injectors. In fact you may not need the SAFC if the AFM can handle the extra flow.
What you can do is hook everything up. Use the SAFC to monitor airflow reading. Start with no boost and increase slowly until the airflow reading tops out. That'll be the max boost the AFM can handle.
You see, the SAFC increase fuel be increasing AFM reading. The ECU can see up to a certain AFM reading. Most likely at the AFM max out point, maybe a bit higher. The SAFC can't tell the ECU to pump any more fuel if its already maxed out.

You'll need ECU pin out for your car. You'll not find anything in SAFC manual for 3S-FE. After you install, set the correct sensor type, most likely follow 3S-GE types. Worse case, trial and error. Car will just won't start if you set it wrong. Keep all setting at 0 until you have a datalog or other tuning device to monitor A/F. A/F gauge on stock O2 sensor doesn't count. You'll need wide band.

Without some additional fuel pressure, you may max out your stock injectors, if that's what you'll be using.
I thought the idea of having an S-AFC was to be able and use larger injectors, then re-tune.
