Did I mess up my transmission?

Hey guys, a couple days ago, I got into a fight with my GF and ended up pretty much driving my car like I wanted to kill it. I apologized to her (my car) but I don't think she likes me anymore. I basically tried to do a do a drop clutch start with an auto tranny (rev'ed it up to 3500-4000 rpm, then dropped it into drive from neutral ) when I left my GF's place (no burn-out since I've got 225/45/17 tires on a 4cyl) then I basically just floored it out of a rolling start off every light for about half hours worth of driving....another . I didn't notice anything wrong with the transmission afterwards, but it it was sounding pretty noisy and rougher yesterday. I changed the engine oil today (part of of my schedule maintainance) and it runs smoother now, but when I shift into reverse, I have to give the shifter a little more push and there's a distinct "click" and harder jerk than from before. Any idea what I might have done to my car?

HOPEFULLY, my sig will hold true and everything will be find tomorrow morning...

Edit: Ok...now that I think about it, 3500-4000 is pretty high...it was probably only like 2000-3000 rpm...but I wasn't really paying attention at the time, so i guess i'll never know.

Aw crap...I can't afford this now...I guess MT swap will be about a year earlier than I thought...IF something is broken.

How much is a tranny flush? And if something IS broken, will the flush make anything worse than it is? The thing is, if the tranny is busted, I'm gonna hafta keep on using it until I an afford a rebuild or a swap. IF (and I'm PRAYING that it's not) it's broken, what can I do ( is there anything I can do?) to keep it from busting anymore?

I think I'm gonna cry...I'm a car abuser!

damn....sounds like bad luck....bud I'd say do as phi said and do a full tranny flush and maybe change to synthetic to make it even smoother....if something may be kinda broken, maybe at least you can limp around for another year or so until you get the $$$ that you need......

and personally.....I don't really think that tha hard driving for one night really would have hurt your tranny much.....but that neutral drop was really really as you said.....

good luck man

Yea...I'm gonna call T-Lex tomorrow and book an appointment.

As for the fluid change, if the tranny fluid is all burnt, and if I'm pretty sure that the fluid has never been changed before, will flushing the tranny out dislodge any seals that may be important? You know how they say that synthetic motor oil could dislodge sludge seals created from years of conventional oil usage, could the same thing happen with transmissions?

Hopefully, tranny flush will cure my problem (crossing my fingers)....as for my GF, it wasn't really her fault... I'm just easily irritated...I guess should go apologize to her too...esp since I think she thinks that I love my car more than her.....

But this isn't the love line thread...this is the how to fix my tranny thread....which will hopefully close with a happy ending this wednesday, otherwise i'll have to start a 'where can I source everything to do a MT swap on a 5sfe' thread pretty soon.

Yeah maybe you should....then again, people fight all the time, its the ones who truly love each other that go over those hurdles

A bottle of Lucas should help your worn out seals and bands in the tranny, just add it with the new fluid. Don't overfill!

Doesn't sound so bad. Clunking when you put it in Reverse isn't the worse thing. Do a fluid change.

I have also beat on my car after fighting
But I didn't hurt it.

I'm in love with my car!

Someone started a thread on TN about why we love Toyotas and I believe that my car is the symbol of why Toyotas are number one. Got up today, went down to see my baby, gave her a pat on the back, said a few nice words, and she responded by acting like I just picked her up off the lot brand new! Shifter doesn't stick anymore, shifts are smooth and silky, engine purrs so quiet you can barely hear it, and tells you to go faster on the highway just because she can. I'm convinced that Toyota used a magic metal when they made my car.

This doesn't mean that I will treat her like sh!t now, but I definitely have new respect for her. Getting the tranny fluid flushed tomorrow and she'll be better than new! She's better than a Timex....take a licking, keeps on ticking and comes back for more. I love my car.

You could of just overheated the transmission and fluid... and now that it had time to cool off its working again.

For those of you who are interested, I got my tranny flushed and it's good now. I didn't use any cleaners or anything..I was afraid of it wrecking old seals and stuff since the fluid has NEVER been changed before....it was BLACK!

ALso, go the differential oil changed... as it came out, Basil (my mech) exclaimed that he'd never seen gear oil the colour that mine was..it too was black!

But, my car runs smooth. No damage done. I love my Toyota.
Next up, new coolant and brake fluid since i'm sure that hasn't been changed either.
