I joined this forum to find a cause for a sudden surge while excellerating my 98 Camry V6. You would swear I was putting my foot to the floor and off the pedal very quickly, over and over. After reading these forums through a search and finding very little to help me, I made an appointment at the dealer and then decided to see what I could see under the hood. I could not locate the fuel filter, which needs changing. Next came the air filter. I removed it and blew it out but found the connecting hose was not connected properly. One of the clamps had come loose and I could see daylight on the edge of the hose. I replaced the filter and connected the clamp and everything worked like new. Who would have thought a very small air leak could cause a surge like that? Sorry about the long first post but if it helps someone else it was worth it.
