maybe a new trick on cam timing? 2vz/3vz

I've been thinking about when I get back ( I'm overseas right now) to swap my 2vz-fe for a 3vz-fe. On top of that switching to propane. It's very clean, high octane (105 or 110, i'm not sure which at the moment), and there are quite a few filling stations in my area. It's cheaper, but not by that much. Well I guess quite a bit cheaper than 91 octane. A lot of people knock propane because they know people that ran it in a duel fuel engine which means you have to keep the compression low and thus no real power gains. If I run straight propane, I can start getting into 12:1 at least. So my plan was to mill the heads as much as a could get away with.

Milling the heads that much could change the cam timing enough to make a difference. And besides that, it would be nice to have some difference in cam timing play with for tuning. I might also consider having someone TIG weld material to the pistons, but I don't think that will be necessary. And I really don't know what effects that could have otherwise...just thoughts.

I started thinking about the internal cam gears and how they're mounted to the cam. It's a 6 sided cut held on each side with snap rings. Now it's been a year since I've even looked at this setup so I could be completely wrong so let me know if I am.

My idea is that as long as the tooth count isn't a multiple of 6, technically you could rotate that internal gear and shift the timing a little. Of course you would have to reset the tick marks, and also it's quite a bit of work to pull the back cams, but once it would be set, that would be it. And you'd definilty have to do your math homework. I had considered making my own adjustable cam gears, but personally I would prefer to play with something thats free and I know won't fail.

I know there's a lot of loose ends on these thoughts, but maybe it would spark some interest in somebody.

Edit: It occured to me that this would only change the intake cam timing, so anyways, If anyone knows how many teeth are on that internal gear, it would give me some math to do when I'm bored.thanks
