Oil cooler pros/cons, things to look out for

Thinking about getting an oil cooler. I'm going to get a new one from some place like JC Whitney, source one from a junked car, or see if I can get one off one of my boss' junked 2G Talons he has in back.

Anything I should be careful about? I saw a mention of pressure drop in Phi's old thread about a tranny cooler... didn't know if I need to do something specific to make sure the oil pressure is constant or if that's only a concern with transmissions. Also, how does this complicate oil changes? What extra steps (if any) will I have to take when I change the oil?

You might have to cover it up during the winter with some cardboard to prevent the oil from getting too cold.

would be really nifty if you could have kind of a thermostat, that would switch between engine circulation and cooler

although the initial shot of cold oil wouldn't be too good
