5sfe powerband question

Just trying to figure out what my car's doing here. Maybe someone can explain my engine's behavior.

Car is a 2000 Camry, 5sfe w/ 5 spd. This behavior is noticeable in all gears except 5th, most noticeable in 2nd.

If I launch and accelerate with moderate throttle starting from around 2500rpm, there's mild acceleration until 2800 or so. Then I feel a sort of boost in power, which would indicate to me that I'm entering the engine's power band. If I keep with the same throttle pressure in the same gear, when I hit about 4100rpm there's another feeling of increase in acceleration, though the difference is smaller than the initial 2800rpm one. After that the rate of acceleration kind of feels like it's gradually increasing. At that point it feels slightly similar to the exponential acceleration one feels with a turbo, up til around 6000 where it tapers off near the rev limiter.

Is this just normal behavior for N/A vehicles? I've nevered really pushed a car like this one, so it may just be that I've not noticed it before. I looked at the N/A 5sfe dynos at http://www.turboforum.net/dyno but didn't really see any graphs that looked like my car feels. Anyone have any insight on this?

Sensors or fuel system, huh? Hmm, didn't think of that. That may also explain some other odd throttle behavior I've been experiencing... engine kind of bounces (for want of a better term) after gently letting off the throttle. If I'm accelerating or completely off the gas I don't get it, it's just when I accel up to certain revs then taper off. (I checked and it's not the mounts or some weird suspension looseness. )

Thanks, I'll see about checking that out.
