2nd gen cam ignition??

i have an 89 cam and i am considering putting a standalone fuel injection set up on it

(megasquirt, cheap, like less then $200 and it can handle up to 21 psi and 10,000 rpm, plus it is fully programable, downside is have to put it together by yourself and its isnt a sequential fuel injection setup, its a batch injector thing)

this will prob be a late winter early spring project however i dont know much about the ignition set ups on efi vehicles, if i remove the stock efi sensors and ecu and all that crap will it effect the ignition timing, if so how do i get around this?
