Stupid power window only goes up!!

Hi all, my 2001 Corolla's passenger side power window controll will not make the window go down, only up. The up and lock/unlock still work on that door and all the controlls on the other doors still work, so I can roll it down from the driver's door.

I would think there is a fuse for the whole door controll module not just the "down", so I'm thinking it might be a short because that power controll panel has been loose almost since I got the car, so it has moved around quite a bit. There is no visable problem with the wires going into the switch. I unplugged/plugged the wiring harness plug from the switch and it didn't help.

Let me know if anyonw knows how to fix this or what I can check.

Thanks

Chris

It should be the switch like Deep said. This happened on my old Accord, I didn't fix it though since I always drove the car and never used the passenger switch.

Either a bad switch like Deep said or try to open the door skin and clean the male and female plugs of the motor (sometimes water gets in their and causes problems)

Yes

3 year/36,000 miles is the full coverage warranty.

5 year/50 or 60,000miles is the powertrain warranty.
This is definitly not a power-train issue.

You might wanna check if the terminals are dirty. Same thing happened with my mom's old celica...I did some looking around, and apparently it wasnt unusual for the terminals to get so dirty the charge wouldnt go through. People cleaned theirs, and problem solved. Maybe I should do that to my moms car when I have time :o

if it works fine from the driver side, then its just that half of the split switch

you can try taking it out and cleaning it, but a new one from the dealer is probably your best bet, or scrap yard
