Piston Ring Specs

I'm working on a 1.5L 3E-E. The Chilton's manual lists the piston ring gaps as the top @ .010-.014" the second @ .011- .022". Is this correct? The top ones in the new set are way off(too big). Thank you for any input.

how much bigger is it? .001 - .003 larger then spec? make sure u have the correct rings and not oversized. you can usually tell this by looking at the part number on the box of rings. after the main part number, there would be something along these: .010 or .020

The number on the box is RS2002 STD with a second line SWT10143-0, the brand name is NOA from Nippon Piston Ring. The top ring's gap is around .017-.018", same as the second compression ring's. The engine shop I bought them from assures me that it will not be a problem and just to go with it. They do with no problems. They have had a good reputation statewide, so I guess I'll go for it. It's my first rebuild I didn't have to fit the rings.
