Yea I do believe that's true.

I still remember I was chasing one of the corollacustomz car at Shannonville, and because I was spinning my tires too much by going "faster", I overheated my brakes and tires therefore I was actually slower.

It's all about knowing the limit of your car and how close you can push it.
