Valve body on 3SFE Camry

I need to replace/rebuild my Valve body, however I have hardly ne tranny rebuild experience, and my Haynes dont say nething about it. B4 I get the factory manual, I was wondering if neone here knew where it is, and how hard it wud be to get to. Im pretty sure I have to take out the tranny (well duh), but how hard is it to get to from there?

I'm curious...How do you know that your VB needs replacing/rebuilding?

The most popular place for auto tranny work tends to be Level10. However, I've heard mixed feedback about them.

well, I took it to my friends dad's shop, and they HAD a tranny specialist. Thing is that it shifts hard going from 1st to 2nd, but not 2nd to third. Third to 4th kinda feels like it has the potential to be rough down the road, and the guy at the shop said it sounds like thats the prob. It cudnt be the TC cuz it dont do it goin into all the gears. Any idea on what else it cud be?

Its on the bottom of the tranny.

From what i've heard its just a matter of dropping the pan, unbolting the filter, and its right there.

I could be full of shit though, but then again I don't work on trannies. Engines are a different story.

Is the ECT on? I know that when the ECT is on the shifts from 1st to 2nd are rough in my car. As for 3rd and 4th... Is the Overdrive always engaged? Perhaps the switch is being weirded out.

I dunno. I'm trying to offer some simple troubleshooting methods. I hate to see it when people have to dump lots of money on problems. I feel bad.

Good luck on getting it fixed.

Ya man, the ECT is on Power, cuz when its in normal it still shifts hard, sometimes harder. And the Overdrive is hardwired On since I took off the stock shift T handle.
