kinda on the subject, i heard titanium valve springs kick ass but wear out quick, any truth to this, what are the advantages besides higher rev, how long are they expected to last? and all that other jazz

Titanium valves are a fat waste of money unless you plan on going to a gazillion rpms and have an unlimited budget. Not to mention they fatigue in short order and are then prone to dropping the valve head into your expensive engine. Yamaha owners are discovering that now that the super zoot YZF's have been out a while.
Go with good stainless valves like Ferrea or the like, good new springs and new guides. Get good machine work done such as multi angle valve job and surfacing. The machining and assembly is every bit as important as the parts being used. More really.
Oh, I just noticed JM-2throw said ti springs not valves...
I've heard mixed reviews on them. Only about 1/2 the spring is actually considered moving weight, so most don't think it's worth the cost even for outright performance. I don't know about longevity on the springs, but I 'think' they do fatigue earlier than steel springs.

The saying with titanium is strong, but not for long.
