I need a simple way to drain the gas tank- 95camry.
Man o man, I thought this would be the day it would start. I was wrong. My project is complete. Car has been in the garage for two years. I just put in a rebuilt engine. Attempted to start it and it turned over, but would not start. I have spark. Duh! I forgot about the half tank of two year old gas in the tank. What is an easy way to fully drain it?
I dropped a gas tank a few years ago and it was a "real pain". I bought a good siphon pump and I will pump out as much gas as possible and then refill it with some good a_ _ petrol and octane booster. I hope it makes this bad boy start.
all you have to do is disconnect the supply line near the motor and turn the car on( provided it is a ele. fuel pump). the fuel pump will suck all the fuel out nice and sweet. just an old junkyard tip!

Don't use the fuel pump to drain the tank. If it runs dry it can ruin the pump as the pump uses the fuel as a coolant. If you feel you have to drain the fuel, get a siphon hose with a rubber squeeze bulb and siphon the old fuel out. I really doubt that is the cause of it not running however. I agree with the suggestions to add some octane booster. You might also consider filling the tank up with fuel. The new fuel would at least dilute the existing stuff and improve the mixture. Maybe try adding premium fuel instead of the octane booster. Probably cheaper.
well yeah if you just sit there and let it run empty.....as soon as it stops flowing shut it off...but as long as this thread has run i hope hes already got it figured out.
