Swapping stock Oil pressure sender...

I'd like to eventually put in an electric oil pressure gauge so I can actually see what the pressure is doing...
Here's my question...

Could I theoretically completely remove my stock Oil pressure send which only wanrs me with the idiot light when pressure goes below 5 PSI... And put in this newer one, and then tap the idiot light lead into it as well??

In simple english, could I run both the gauge, and the idiot light lead to the new OP sender without triggering the OP light in the dash? Or could I just disconnect it, and not get into any trouble with it?

No.

The sending unit that comes with the guage gets connected to the guage.

So either remove the stock oil pressure switch / sensor or tie it in with the new sending unit by using fittings, hoses, adapters, etc.

So I cant just wire both the gauge, and the idiot light up to the new sender from the gauge kit and just completely ditch the old sender? I'd have to use a t-fitting, and do a bunch of mechanical ish?

Using a t-fitting and tieing it all together would be the safest route.

If you want to try wiring both to the new sender your on your own.

Cool, I think I will try. My only question now is, that because I know theres oil in there, and the OP light comes on.. Will it also give me a CE light? If I get the CE light, all I have to do is take the battery off for 2 minutes. Right?
