Question mr2 non-turbo...turbo?

Question....... i recently bought a non-turbo 91' toyota mr2. I wanted a turbo but they were to expensive. So I was wondering if my mr2, non-turbo, could carry a turbo? If it is possible to put one in. If not a turbo charger, then what about a supercharger??

Do a search for '5SFE turbo' or '5SFTE' and you'll find all the info you could want about it.

Yes the engine can carry a turbo. You'll want to go to your toyota dealer and ask if the pistons were forged in that year 5sfe. If they are then you're good to go, if not I'd suggest getting new ones before a turbo.

sorry for such a n00b question, but what motors came in the 2nd generation mr2s? both none turbo and turbo... because my friend has a '93 mr2 turbo but it has a 3S-GTE, and I was assuming the none turbos would be 3S-GE? I've never heard of this 5S-FE motor before.
