a541e and counter gears
Has anyone pulled down there a541e from a avalon or camry and taken note of what the tooth count of the counter gear ratio (under the o/d cover ).
I'm trying to work out how they come up with the 3.625 final drive ratio on these autos as i want to stiffen the ratio up .
I counted the teeth on my 04 avalon's "crown wheel" today ( thru the diff drain hole )and got 60 teeth,
then i did the maths and there is no pinion match that gives 3.625 , so it must be done on the counter gear ratio !
NEW info found That shows that a 60T ring gear is matched with either a 14 or 15 tooth pinion
which either way gives 4:1+ ratio , and the same info also showed the counted gears as 2 sets in use in various models 1 being 2.7% under drive the other 5.7% overdrive.
So the info i now need from camry , avalon and solara people is which cars /years have a 58 tooth ring gear as this gear is matched to 1 of 3 possible pinions 15,16 & 17 teeth giving 3 final drive ratios 3.411 , 3.625 & 3,866 non which the australian 2004 avalon has in it HENCE why it's milage is RS.
