Ok, Level with me....

I know the Celica and matrix have the "Same" 1.8l engine.

But is it really the same?

Or is it like how the SRT4 and Turbo PT engine. They have the same engine but the intake, exhaust, etc is not the same.

?

If you mean the 1ZZ, then the intake manifold, exhaust manifold and tuning are different. The corolla also has the 1ZZ.

All in all I am looking at the TRD s/c for the matrix going on the Celica.

Ok, then you'll run into clearance problems. You could always turbo it.

I think the TRD s/c would be more reliable. Simple next to turbo.

Actually, the engines are not the same. The Corolla, Matrix base, and base Celicas and GT's have a different bore/stroke than the Celica GT-S and Matrix (whichever one has 180hp). The engines share most of their components, but just be warned, the internals are NOT the same.

As for the intake/exhuast manifolds, they probably are not the same exactly, but the intake/exhuast ports on the manifolds and engine line up exactly, so the S/C from TRD should fit either engine, clearance being your only problem.

1.8L 140hp @ 6400RPM
Displacement (cc) 1794
Bore x Stroke 3.11 x 3.60
Compression Ratio 10.0:1

1.8L 180hp @ 6400RPM
Displacement (cc) 1796
Bore x Stroke 3.23 x 3.35
Compression Ratio 11.5:1

I don't mean to be a prick, but did you read any of my replies? I said that if he means the 1ZZ (base motor) then the difference lies in mapping, harness, intake and exhaust manifolds... the longblock is the same. The base motor is the one he asked specifically about, why confuse anything with the 2ZZ?

yea what he said......and about the S/C on the celica, the hood clearance might be an issue...since theybolt right on top of the head. the celica has no space what so ever to fit an 2 inch hieght S/C...
thas why Deep was recommanding Turbo since it can fit onto the exhaust manifold......which is kinda neat since the turbo will be place behind the engine

Whoa, geez, I didn't mean any harm, I was just trying to figure out if he was actually talking about the 1ZZ or 2ZZ. I also wanted him to know that the engines are definetily not the same. I wasn't trying to be a prick either.

I was also interested in finding the specs of the engines. I find that I don't know enough about the newest toyota 4-cylinders. I'm a little old-school, and I like the A and S series motors.
