Supercharger Question

I just bought a 2002 4Runner with the TRD supercharger. I'm hoping to find an expert on here that can tell me a little about them. Some of my questions are:

1. What maintenance needs to be performed on the SC?
2. Do I need to run a particular oil in the engine?
3. Do I need to run high octane fuel?
4. Must I have a K&N or TRD wash and oil air filter or can I just use the throw away kind?
5. The truck has almost 100k miles on it. Will I need to have the SC overhauled?

Thanks in advance for any help.

1: Unless the SuperCharger has a problem, just really need to change the oil every 30k miles or so. I use GM Supercharger oil. Yes, from the GM dealer, lol. The Belt, well, change when it;s worn out just like you would any belt. I;m not too sure on the 4Runner SC setup, but Pullies that are SuperCharger specific need to be replaced periodically due to normal wear.

2: No perticular oil needed for the engine. But if no oil leaks, I'd suggest running Synthetic.

3: You HAVE to run 91 or high. If somehow you get lower in, like 87-89, drive the truck easy and don't hit boost. If it;s only like 1/4 a tank of 87, fill the rest 93 and you'll be fine.

4: Any air filter is fine. The TRD or K&N will let a little more air through and maybe get a little more power. But I just use a normal OEM Toyota filter myself.

5: The SC doesn't need to be overhauled UNLESS it has an issue. If it has 100k miles on it (Been on since new), chances are sooner then later, it will need a rebuild. But unless there is any abnormal noises (Usually a bad bearing, so a bad rattle noise), no need for a rebuild.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate the information. I do have one other question. How do you go about changing the oil in the thing. Does it need to come off to do that? How hard is that. I don't even change my own oil so my mechanic skills are nill.

I am honestly not sure on YOUR supercharger. The ones for the Camry's been to be taken off. The ones ont he Corolla's do not.

There should be a plug (dime size), under the SuperCharger pulley shaft. The oil is added/drained through that.
