Charcoal Canister?

Ok since I have the motor out on my 81 celica right now I am trying to clean up the engine bay as much as possible. So I found out that I can take just about every vacuum line out except a few of them. That leads me to my question. Has anyone taken there charcoal canister out of there car and had any problems? I have heard arguments going both ways that you can take it out and others saying it isn't a good idea. So can anyone shed some light on this. And please don't tell me what the canister does because I know what it does I just want to know if I can run without it or not.

You can take it out however the fumes from the gas tank vent into this. You can just run a tube from the vent line down near the bottom of the car where it will vent freely while driving (a very minor amount vents....no reason to worry). I also cleaned up my lines when i rebuilt. Now all i have as far as vacumn lines are brake booster, fuel pressure reg, boost gauge, and map sensor. Its nice to get rid of emmisions (illegal, but nice)

YEah I have decided to get rtid of it. A lot of guys on classic-celica.com have had experience with it and they replied to my post about this and everyone that put a weber carb on there engine took it off and since I am putting a weber 38 carb on mine I am getting rid of it. IT is nice though to get rid of stuff you don't need. I have my EGR and air pump removed along with only having my cruise, distributor advance and brake boost vacuum lines left. And beleive me if you have ever seen a 22R you would know there are a crap load of vacuum lines. I think I have used about 20 vacuum plugs so far and still have a few open still.

lol yeah...i have 4 plugs on the top of my throttle body, i also made a custom plate on the bottom to block off the coolant flow through it as well as a plate to block off the idle control. Also made a plate to get rid of EGR on the manifold....it was lots of work but i sure can feel the difference.
