22r & 22re

I have a 1986 Toyota 4x4 P/U with a 22 R motor, I have a fuel inj. system that came off a 1986 P/U. How much trouble is it to incorporate fuel inj. system onto my motor. I have everything, head, intake inj. & wiring. Do I need a PCM?

You will need pretty much everything off the donor except for the block. Computer, wiring, intake and exhaust manifold(or mount the O2 in yours somehow), fuel pump, maybe different fuel line set up(not sure on that one), afm, all other sensors and...um what else....
Not sure on ignition stuff. The computer needs to know rpm somehow, but I don't know where it gets that info from. Distributer maybe? Ignition module may be different.
You might want to get one of each side by side and see what's the same and what's different.

You don't need to change heads the Carbed and Fuel injection heads are the same. As long as you use both from the newer engine which started in 85 so you are fine there. The distributors are the same as well they are both electronic. Youreally just need the whole intake side of thing, wiring harness and computer. You can keep the exhaust manifold you have already too since it is the same as well.

I just put a 22r-e in my 73 celica 2 days ago so i know exactly what u need to do.
your biggest concern is probably hooking up the ecu. This is easy. your one harness goes to the engine, the other one to the body. The body harness has many wires coming out of it. you need to hook up 6 or 7
The black with yellow stripe goes to your airflow sensorand to +power
the smaller black goes to your coil, tachometer
The rest all go to airflow sensor, this is easy, just match colors. There are 4 or 5, i can't remember.

I'd like to add that i recommend converting if you plan on keeping the truck. I hate screwing with carburators.
