I ripped apart a 3S-GE engine and noticed piston #4 had a bit more carbon buildup than the others. I'm going to do the usual rebuild stuff (New rings, clean the bores, ect.) But I want to test the injectors to see if I sould replace them. Can I do this myself or should I take them to a shop?

It wouldn't be very accurate to test it yourself, the most you can do is to check the spray pattern. A fuel injector test machine can check the flow rate volume, and a few other things. They can also clean the injectors, and then give you readings on the before and after results.
