well all cars have potential... some just cost more to get up to a certain power range than others. the best/cheapest cars to build up? probably one of those 2.2L Dodge Caravans. I hear you can turbo them and boost them into the 20s or 30s psi on stock internals (since they're forged) and run 12s.

If a car is designed to be sporty, or cheap but sporty looking, it will most likely have decent to good aftermarket support. Cars that come to mind are the Celica and the MR-S. They look sporty, aren't extremely fast, but the aftermarket has catered to them because people can afford to modify them.

any and all of those cars from the big 3 that come with them
Well said, tho I'm not really a big Honda fan. Quite the opposite in fact.
Silver_Cartel: As far as I am aware, the only NEW Toyota's available with a G-style head, are the Celica GTS and Matrix XRS they both have the same engine in fact, the 2ZZ-GE. Just about every Lexus model also has a G head. One thing to note is that the 2ZZ can be easily swapped into any 2000+ Celica, 2000+ MR2, 98+ Corolla, and all Matricies. So even those cars have the potential to be really great.
Nope. The only engine w/ G head in the current Lexus line up is 2JZ-GE. That limits the models to IS & GS300 (and previously SC300). Both cars have lots of potential as far as HP goes.
If you plan on more than simply going fast, a rigid and light weight chasis is the key to extract more potential out of the vehicle.
potential=aftermarket support.......aftermarket support not only in the area of performance enhancement, but also parts replacement! imagine if u bought this car that u loved but not being able to find a replacement panel for it because no one makes on :o

aftermarket always starts with a single person, or view, and THEN it's "franchised", so yes, every car has potential...
