Skip shift eliminator?

I've heard about them lots but don't know exactly what they are. Does it go on the shifter and make the throws more precise, or is it in the actually tranny? I've heard of them mostly on 6 speed cars - anything to do with the closer ratios? It's boggled my mind for a while now and its time to make peace .

GM has it on its 6-speed cars- corvette, and LT1/LS1 Camaros and T/As. Basically anything with the T56 trans.

Called CAGS (computer-aided gear selection), it is an electronic device which forced you to shift from first to fourth under light-duty driving (around town) to boost fuel economy. This works well with a torquey small block but not with a smaller engine.
Under full throttle you get all sixth gears tho.

Some companies offer a plug-in override which bypasses this needless function for relatively cheap, I think SLP maybe as well as some others.

I don't know if any Toyotas have it, hope this helped

Steve

GM is the only company that uses CAGS, so no, it won't help you any.
