I just got my MSD-6AL ignition box today. I have been reading the documentation and it looks like it's going to be a relatively simple installation, but I don't want to jinx it! My buddy is a mechanic, so I figure that he'd be the best one to help me out. Does anyone know where I can get a good set of ignition wires made, preferably MSD or Accel 300+ wires? Also, is anyone interested in a step-by-step installation instruction set? I'll do it if people are interested, otherwise I won't bother with instructions, I'll just take pics. Let me know!!!

Sure, that would be great. If you want good wires, Ive heard good things about Magnacore. Do the 3VZ's have a distributor? Cuz I know my 1MZ is distributorless, it uses coil packs instead.
If you want, I can come by during the install to take pics if you dont have a digicam of your own.
Actually I would be interested in that. I would like to know, for sure, that the MSD 6AL cannot control ignition timing under load on carbuerated engines. Is there anything in the manual that points to this?

The MSD is a ignition amplifier so it does not control ignition timing.
The MSD 6BTM does come with an extra box that allows you to retard the timing based on boost though.
huh? well, perhaps you could explain why numerous ppl use the msd6al in conjunction with the efi dizzy on carbed 4ages? Doesn't the ignition amplifier adjust the timing of the dizzy based on the rpm band....depending on what you're reving, it either advances or retards the ignition curve? however, i'm curious if it can adjust the ignition curve (spark) under load...many say it cannot, but i assume that MSD must have a model that can.
I have heard good things about Magnacor too, but they are really expensive. I'm going to try to have a set of Accel or MSD wires made up, which should be much cheaper.
No, the 6AL does not advance or retard timing, it's just a capacitive discharge unit that provides Multiple Sparks under 3000-3500rpm. Above that, there's just one big spark.
The 3VZ-FE does have a distributor, and the 6AL (and any 6 series ignition) cannot be used with a DIS. I'll let you all know when I am going to install it. Photographers welcome!
jacobs sells wires for the camry not sure if it would work on ur v6 though... but they are worth a shot to ask.. maybe then have an application or a custom for ya...

You can get NGK spark plug wires with Metal resistor wire ( Mag wire) and the better stainless steel multi point plug ends instead of the brass ends with a small rectangular rectangle on the end of US made plug wires along with a lifetime warranty.
TRD also sells mag wire ignition wires which I use on my 1982 SR5 Corolla Coupe, TE72 along with a MSD 6A.

I didn't have time this weekend! I want to wait until I get my coil, tach adaptor, and ignition wires. I'll let you know when it's all installed!
