OBD-II Code P1705 (98 Camry)

Hello All,

I have a '98 Camry and the check engine light recently came on, stayed on for two days, and then went off again.

I connected it to a Snap-On MicroSCAN and pulled code P-1705 mod$10. I can't seem to find P1705 (the Toyota version) anywhere on the web.

A number of the OBD-II sites either don't list it, or list versions for other manufacturers (they don't seem to be the same among the US manufacturers either). Is anyone able to steer me in the correct direction?

The car seems to be running fine.

Thanks!

This code relates to your transmission, particularly to the direct clutch speed sensor. Possibly causes for the code: (1) open/short in the direct clutch speed sensor circuit; (2) Problem with the sensor itself; (3) ECM. The most probable is the direct speed sensor, which I believe is on top of the trans. Hope it helps!

Thanks for the help! Will this affect drivability? The transmission just started performing unusually (random speed changes and shift irregularity). Will it harm the transmission to drive it like this long enough to get to the shop?

Any idea what the sensor costs or what the labor time should be?

Thanks!
